With the release of the “Swiss Icons” watch this past week, brand H. Moser & Cie. have cemented themselves even further as a company that is wholly disinterested in taking any shit from anyone. They are the punk rockers of the luxury world, a position they don’t just accept, but own completely. Given the sort of Frankenstein nature of this piece, we decided to reach out to the other brands whose designs were ported over to this Moser piece unique for a comment. This is what they had to say:

Rolex (GMT Master II Bezel Insert):

“H. Mo-who?”

Panerai (Numerals and Crownguards):

Non riusciamo a vedere la somiglianza,” which, in English, translates roughly to “We fail to see the resemblance.”

IWC (Logo Design):

“Ours is bigger.”

Breguet (Hands):

“You mean someone took the design of our hands? How can this be? Surely this has never happened before!” (In a plot twist for the lovely people of Breguet, I think they might be upset to know it has, in fact, happened before – to be fair, the Swatch group did have a hard time connecting us to the correct brand, and I’m not entirely certain I even spoke with someone from Breguet when we finally did connect)

Girard Perregaux (Tourbillion Bridge):

“Though noble as the cause is that our colleagues have embarked upon in attempting to restore the true heritage of Swiss watchmaking, we cannot condone the method, as it is antithetical to all that we, as a brand, stand for.”

Hublot (Case Shape):

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA we can top that.”

Audemars Piguet (Royal Oak Bezel):

“They really put their insert inside of our bezel? And we thought that Bulova was shameless…”

Patek Philippe (Nautilus Dial Pattern and Possibly Bracelet):

“They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery.”

…However, it has been noted that in private, the reactions from Patek officials have been much more akin to “Fucking jerkoffs.”

More on this story as it develops.
